Loved by God; United in Learning
Although World Book was a little different this year, it didn't stop us having a great time and celebrating all things reading. We got creative alongside authors and learnt their top tips. If you missed it, or want to rewatch the links are below.

On World Book Day, our school author Martin Coleman held assemblies for KS1 and KS2. He talked about what books have meant to him, particularly focussing on poetry, and he shared poems from one of his childhood favourites, “Now We Are Six”, which the children loved. Some of the older children bravely read their fantastic “500 Words” competition entries to the rest of the school.
For the rest of the day, Martin ran a poetry workshop with 20 children from Years 4 and 5 who were wearing their character costumes or their comfy pyjamas. They brainstormed ideas with him and he was impressed with both their unique thoughts and excellent vocabulary. They then chose whether to work in groups, pairs or individually and composed their own animal poems. The results were amazing and wonderfully individual. Martin was really impressed with both the children’s hard work and their poetic results.
On our school Youtube channel you can see the children performing their work with an introduction by Martin.
